Gavel Grab reports on courts, judges, prosecutors, and the law as written. The site reads the statute and the court record, then reports what the law permits and who is exposed under it. Coverage includes judicial selection and discipline, prosecutorial conduct, state criminal exposure of public officials, and the enforcement mechanics of American law. Articles quote their sources and link every document where the claim appears.
Gavel Grab published from 2009 to 2017 as the reporting arm of Justice at Stake, a nonpartisan judicial independence organization in Washington, D.C., whose research was cited in briefing before the Supreme Court of the United States. The Library of Congress preserves the original site in its web archives. Justice at Stake closed in June 2017 and the site went dark. This publication revives the name under new and independent ownership, with no affiliation to the original organization, and continues the work the masthead was known for.
Gavel Grab is a publication of Armi Info LLC and is independently financed. It accepts no advertising and sells no reader data. The publisher alone decides what Gavel Grab covers.
